I’m delighted to have been selected as a finalist again in the AOP Photographers Awards, this time in the Open Category. I love this luxury product shot of the Omega Seamaster, it just oozes quality. It’s a nice watch too… do you think I could hang on to it….? Here’s more of my still life and product photography.

I’m happy to admit it, I love seeing my shots on double page spreads! Whether it’s an ad or an editorial piece it always very satisfying to flick through a magazine and see your shots as large as life filling a DPS. It’s even better when the next 8 pages are filled with your shots too just like this recent interiors shoot featuring Residence Interior Design’s refurbishment of a luxurious penthouse in KBB magazine. Here’s a few of the pages to feast your eyes on. You can see more of my interiors photography here. All images ©Adrian Lyon.
One of the great things about being a photographer today is the flexibility we have in producing a wide range of material out of one project. Below is a behind the scenes video from a shoot for a Pharma client we’ve put together from the materials we shot for the ads, videos and time-lapse movies, which is a great example.
As you can see the brief was to shoot a mountain bike broken down into it’s component parts and then arranged into a graphic layout. The agency needed to produce ads in addition to printed support material with a video piece for the product launch. So from the one shoot, using our specialist overhead camera rig, we produced two time-lapse movies of the bike and it’s components building up plus behind the scenes footage with a time-lapse of the shoot progressing, not forgetting, the hi res stills images for the main ad and lots of detail shots of the components for the support material. Phew!
It was a great shoot (ads to follow) and great to be able to produce so much material for the agency and clients in combining the stills and video into one shoot. All images and video ©Adrian Lyon. All rights reserved. Video music courtesy of Bonobo
Here’s two great shots from some recent interiors shoots which I really enjoyed. It was a pleasure to study and capture the design and attention to detail that’s gone into these two properties from Stephen Dick at Residence Interior Design. I love the idea of having a bath with a view of the Shard too! You can see more of my interiors photography in my Interiors folio. All images ©Adrian Lyon.
These beautiful components from Track Audio were part of a brochure shoot with David Denyer PR which included all their range of audio support equipment. It’s exquisitely made stuff, the attention to detail and the wonderful machining goes right across the range. A joy to photograph! All images ©Adrian Lyon.
So do you remember the humble audio cassette and the majesty of the mix tape and recording your favourite tracks from the Top 40 on a Sunday afternoon? It’s hard to believe it’s fifty years old yet at the same time it seems like an age since it was a useful way of storing and reproducing music such has been the progress of technology in recent years.
It was never the most reliable of media with great arm-fulls regularly needing to be fished out of the deck before being feed gently back into the cassette plus it never really sounded good, especially after a spell in the car. But it did (eventually) allow music to become properly portable and accessible almost anywhere (assuming you had enough batteries) which is reason for celebration in it’s self.
Wonder how long it will be before we’re saying similar things about CDs and DVDs?

These are a two of my favorite shots of the Magico Q1 speakers and Jadis JA120 amp from a couple of recent shoots for HiFi+ magazine. Both are gorgeous products and phenomenally expensive too, but worth every penny, I’m told… (guys, may be next time I could borrow them for while?). If ever you need a location for a photo-booth style shoot then you could do a lot worse than the London Film Museum. I recently had to set up this shoot to fit in with a gala dinner as part of a IBM European conference. The dinner was hosted at the museum which is in the old GLC building on the South Bank so we went for a back stage at the movies style set and bit of glamorous lighting which all the delegates loved. A great fun evening! All images ©Adrian Lyon.
